Family Promise (formerly MCIHN)

Christ Church was one of 13 founding host congregations of MCIHN (now called Family Promise as of Jan. 2010), providing hospitality in the form of food, shelter and general assistance for three to five families for one week each quarter of the year.

During the day, the Family Promise van transports the families to the Emerson Day Center in Conroe where they can shower, care for their children, look for affordable housing and employment. Local service agencies refer families to the Network and assist the families with obtaining affordable housing, employment and other services. The guest families are screened and counseled by a salaried Family Promise professional social worker.

Volunteers are the heart of the Interfaith Hospitality Network. The volunteers provide meals, drive the guests to and from the Day Center in the Family Promise van, fellowship with the guests and stay overnight at the church while the guest families are staying there.

This is a wonderful service mission for our community. It's also an excellent opportunity for those who want to get connected with a service mission but might not have time to serve during the day or go on an extended trip. If you have been looking for a place to serve in the church, please consider this mission.  This is a mission the whole family can get involved in.
