We started the day together with breakfast and a morning devotional provided by Eric Japp. His scripture choice was James Chapter 3, and he encouraged us to focus on serving each other and carefully choose our words to encourage each other during the week. After cleaning up, we loaded up and drove to the church in Apache for the Worship Service at 10:30. When we arrived at the church we met up with the Luchak family, their nephew Gabriel and friend Blake Bentley. They drove all night and had arrived at the church a few minutes before us.
The worship service included some great praise and worship music, and our children fully embraced it with tambourines and lots of movement. We were also blessed with the talent of Blake who played his guitar and led two songs. The service continued with the Pastor Rudy's message, and finished up with communion served by Pastor Rudy and assisted by Chris and Raymond, a church lay leader. After the service, we got an opportunity to talk with some of the members of the congregation. A few of us had a quick meeting to discuss the week's plans with the Pastor and 'Ladies of the church' while the others unloaded the trailers containing the construction and VBS equipment. We then headed back to the Conference Center (aka 'Tent City' ) for lunch.
The remainder of the day was spent together in preparation for our week to come, with dinner together and wonderful fun and fellowship between adults and children. The evening finished out with spirit-filled music by Blake with his soothing vocals and guitar. God truly blessed us on our day of rest.
