Adult Ministry

~2012 Winter-Spring Bible Studies
Christ Church offers a number of ongoing small groups and short-term Bible studies to assist you in your growth in your relationship with Jesus Christ and one another.

There are a variety of engaging summer Bible studies designed to meet a variety of needs. Feel free to stop by the Welcome Center at Christ Church to register or register online for the current open registrations by clicking on the appropriate link under 'Open Registrations'.  Studies include:

2012 Men's Retreat - March 2 & March 3, 2012, Friday & Saturday

2012 Women's Retreat - February 24-25, 2012
Esther: Poise, Purpose, and Power--How many of us find ourselves in times of trial, tribulation, or temptation? From a book of the Bible that never mentions the name of God, there is much to be learned about living a life that honors God. Let's discover together how we too can be used as Godly vessels of untold blessings.

Music provided by Connie Pinkerton, our speaker is Rev. Deanna Young. Last day of registration is Feb. 9th. Lakeview Methodist Conference and Retreat Center.


Bible in 90 Days (Monday - 7:00pm)
Just 12 Pages a Day
That’s all it takes to read the Bible in ninety days. It’s easier than you thought! Once you break it down into bite-sized pieces, what may have seemed to be a formidable challenge becomes doable and enjoyable.  Begins Jan. 16, 2012, led by Sue Teall.

Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way by Shauna Niequist (Tuesday - 6am)
"Bittersweet is the idea that in all things there is both something broken and something beautiful, that there is a moment of lightness on even the darkest of nights, a shadow of hope in every heartbreak, and that rejoicing is no less rich even when it contains a splinter of sadness.

Christ Church 101 (New/Potential Member Class) Wednesday 7pm
Christ Church 101 is offered several times a year and covers everything from what your vows of prayers, presence, gifts and service mean; a little bit about Christ Church’s history and structure; as well as ways to get involved.  You may sign up today on-line or pick up The Path brochure at the Welcome Center. January 18, 2012—7pm-9pm, refreshments provided.

College Students and Young Adults
Group for young adults including college students and career singles.

Creations
Provide a supportive Christian environment for individuals as they progress on their faith journey.

David--"Having a Heart Like His" (Monday @ 7pm)
Begins Sept. 12th @ 7pm, a Beth Moore study led by Allyson Meacham

Explorers
Group for parents of children to pre-teen.

Family Fellowship
Group for parents of teens and future parents of teens.

Friendship
Group seeking to grow in faith and to love God more.

Genesis
Bible study group who seeks to grow in faith through "The Word".

Helping Hands
Join this group for fellowship and fun.  Bring your crafts or come and learn to craft.  This group will meet every Wednesday of each month beginning in January 2012.  For more information~contact Rev. Deanna Young at dyoung@cc-um.org.

Jesus, Jazz and Java

Group includes Bible study, contemporary issue discussion, prayers, and fellowship. They seek to grow together as they journey on their spiritual walk with Christ.


Ladies Night Out
Throughout the year, come join your sisters in Christ for a night of fun & fellowship.  Childcare provided with 48 hours notice.  Register on line or contact Nancy Davis @ ndavis@cc-um.org.  It is not required to register but it is helpful.  Click on Ladies Night Out to see all the dates for these fun activities.

Logos -- Discovering God's Word
Discover the meaning of God's word and its relevance for us today.  Led by Joe Michels.

No Other Gods (Thursday - 9:15am)
No Other Gods by Kelly Minter.  As a group we will discover how much God desires to free us from such powerless, yet deceptive, gods so that we can make room for His all-surpassing presence to move in our lives. Begins January 12, 2012.  Led by Lisa Moncrief.  Purchase book at Lifeway or Barnes & Nobel prior to class.
