Lord, Have Mercy!

The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. – Psalm 6:9 NIV

I walked around numb and in denial for months, Lord. My façade was perfect. I didn’t miss a beat at work. I stood in line at the grocery store with no pitying looks. I even encouraged a hurting friend with words that I myself could not yet accept: “The Lord is merciful.” I could not gather the courage or the energy to bring You my burdens. I was sick and tired of myself. Then my heart spoke up, crying for mercy and compassion on my behalf. Lord, thank You for accepting my prayer. You raised me out of the trap of self-pity. You are indeed merciful, Lord. Amen.
