Dr. Daniel Hannon

Dr. Hannon is the founding Pastor of Christ Church United Methodist, providing overall leadership and vision for the staff and congregation since 1991. He has been an Elder of The United Methodist Church, Texas Annual Conference since 1983. A native Houstonian, Dan holds degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University, University of Houston, Emory University,  and Drew University. Prior to his calling into ministry in 1980, he served as a public school teacher in Alief ISD. He is married to Judy and has one son, Daniel Hannon, III and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hannon. Dan and Judy are the proud grandparents of Victoria, Georgia & Charlotte Hannon. Dan serves in many leadership capacities within The Woodlands. He was honored in 2012 with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award, in 2008 as The Woodlands Hometown Hero, in 2010 Woodlands Citizen of the Year. He serves as on the Interfaith Board of Directors and is a founding member of Montgomery County Family Promise Homeless Outreach Ministry. Professionally, Dan is an Elder of the United Methodist Church, Pastoral Care Specialist with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and a Life Certified Secondary School Teacher for the State of Texas.

Jeff Powers Jeff Powers is the incoming Senior Pastor to Christ Church UM. He and his wife Julie come to us from Westminster UMC in Uptown Houston, where they served for almost nine years. Julie is a 7th generation Texan and currently teaches Texas History for Fort Bend ISD. Jeff grew up in Houston and received his B.A. in Communications from the University of Houston. He received his M.Div. from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University. Jeff has served several pastoral appointments in Texas, including FUMC in Teague, FUMC Lake Jackson, Cedar Bayou UMC in Baytown, and FUMC Pittsburg. He has also served in several leadership roles in the conference in the areas of evangelism and financial stewardship. Prior to ordained ministry, Jeff worked in the newspaper business. He worked at the Houston Chronicle, Huntsville Item, and Marshall News Messenger. He was the Publisher of the Observer Newspaper Group (Humble, Kingwood, and New Caney) before entering the ministry.

Julie and Jeff have two children. Daughter Christy lives in Rapid City, South Dakota with her husband Garrett, who is a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Their son John passed away last December at age 26, following a long and courageous struggle with Spinocerebellar Ataxia #17. Julie and Jeff are looking forward to their first granddaughter who will be born this August

Dr. Marc Donaldson

After receiving his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University, Marc practiced engineering for one year, then was called to the ministry. In 1999 he graduated with his Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and was appointed to Christ Church. Marc has been married to Leanne for 20 years and they have one son.”My ministry is God’s ministry, and it is the product of the love of my life, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for those in my life who hold me accountable to being with Him. Daily prayer and daily time in God’s word are staples in my spiritual diet.”Marc is an Elder in the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, providing leadership in the areas of Outreach, Witness and Care, and Compassion.

Rev. Melinda Thompson Melinda Thompson is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  She graduated from Southern University with a bachelor’s in computer science and the University of Houston – Clear Lake with a master’s in systems engineering.  She spent several years as an engineer in the aerospace industry.  It was during her many years of work in the oil and gas industry in leadership, engineering, and business roles where she received her call to ministry. She graduated with a Master of Divinity from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in 2018. Her passion for ministry entails modeling the love of Christ to humanity so it will in turn transform others to be disciples of Christ.  In addition, Praise and Worship is an essential discipline as she endeavors to be more and more like Christ.  Furthermore, Melinda enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling.
