Prayer opens our hearts to the power of God’s love. Prayer is how we become channels of God’s love for the world. Prayer is a gift from God – He wants to hear from us!

Work in Progress

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6 NRSV

Most merciful God, I realize that I come before you as a work in progress. Often I find myself in situations where I know the right thing to do, but I just don’t do it. That’s disappointing to me. I realize that I should have a better attitude about things and that I should trust you more and treat people better. But somehow you haven’t given up on me. You keep reminding me of your support. You keep whispering your guidance. Thank you, Lord!  Please keep working on me. Amen.

Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. . . . If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. – Matthew 6:12, 14 NLT

May your forgiveness spur me on to forgive those around me, Lord. Help me not be stingy with extending mercy but be generous as you are. Help me forgive fully as one who has been fully forgiven. Then, Lord, may your mercy flow through me, coming full circle to remind me of how your forgiveness has set me free to forgive. Amen.
