PRAYER

Prayer opens our hearts to the power of God’s love. Prayer is how we become channels of God’s love for the world. Prayer is a gift from God – He wants to hear from us!
Pray for Others – If you would like to be part of Christ Church’s prayer chain and receive emails with prayer requests from our congregation, please contact Karen Smith.

The Prayer Tree is located in The Commons and a part of the Prayer Ministry. Complete a prayer “leaf” and it will be prayed over by the church.

To submit a prayer request, you may send an email message to prayer@cc-um.org. If you would prefer a more private prayer request, you can contact Dr. Marc Donaldson.

Don’t Gossip

A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. – Proverbs 11:13

Lord, sometimes it’s such a temptation to talk about other people. I like to be “in the know,” but I don’t want my listening and sharing to become gossip. Show me the line between relating needed information and gossiping—passing along rumors that may hurt a friend or family member. Help me to be a person who can keep a secret and not betray a confidence. Help me to be trustworthy in all my conversations, Lord.

Dealing with Enemies

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. – Romans 12:17-21

Lord, I need wisdom in dealing with my adversaries. Teach me Your ways of justice, and help me to do what is right. I will not repay anyone evil for evil. I will not take it into my own hands, but I will allow You to avenge. I ask that You would bring good results from the iniquity of this situation. Give me the grace to leave it to You to make things right again. Please grant me the strength to live in peace.
