Prayer opens our hearts to the power of God’s love. Prayer is how we become channels of God’s love for the world. Prayer is a gift from God – He wants to hear from us!

God’s Protection

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. – Proverbs 3:25-26 NIV
The world feels out of control, God. I watch the news and turn away. But later, the fear of ruin, or violence, or disaster seeps into my soul. I am awakened by the pounding of my heart. During the day I feel anxious and unsettled. Lord, help me to place my confidence in You. Replace the list of dangers that runs through my mind with words of assurance. Turn my scattered worries into passages of prayer. When I see the world’s pain, may I not use Your protection as a reason for isolation. Let me tap into Your love, empathy and compassion. Amen.

God’s Plan

Walk in all the way that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. – Deuteronomy 5:33 NIV
Lord, from Your vantage point, the charting of my daily course must look like a very unorganized spider’s web. Here. There. Back again. How many days do I spend running in circles to keep up with the life I’ve created? Lead me to the life You planned for me. Unravel those strands of confusion and weave together a course that is of Your design. Remind me of the beautiful pattern my steps can create when I seek Your help. Lord, give me the insight to follow Your commands and guide me toward my true life. Amen.
