Rush Hour

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. – Proverbs 12:25 NKJV   Here I am, Lord, getting ready for another busy day, preparing myself to face rush hour. Help me to stay calm throughout this day and not get caught up in the frenzied pace of this world but to set a pace that is pleasing to You. Sure and steady wins the race, and my race is to win the prize of Your presence in my life. Help me to keep that in the forefront of my mind today. May I not become anxious but keep Your word of peace in my heart and be a beacon of peace in the presence of others. Amen.   [from Power Prayers to Start Your Day by Donna Maltese]

Worldly Fears

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.” – Jeremiah 17:7 NIV   I am so blessed for even though I fear many things right now—the state of the economy, unemployment, terrorist attacks, shootings in the schools and on the streets, debilitating illnesses—I trust in You. I refuse to go along with the world, driven by despair, fear, and insecurity. No, I will not bow to outside pressures. I will live my life with the assurance that You are with me. I will put my confidence in You, for I trust You to look out for me, to keep me close to You, to always be with me, no matter what. Amen.   [from Power Prayers to Start Your Day by Donna Maltese]
