From a Family Promise Graduate:
Dear Christ Church, “I am beyond blessed to make it to this point. It was truly a struggle but I knew I couldn’t give up. I thank you so much for your prayers, generosity, and blessings. We are very thankful and grateful for all you’ve done. I can’t express how this makes me feel. To have people who I don’t know show my family so much love. Truly appreciate your kindness throughout it all and for thinking of us and helping us along the way.
Sincerely, Thomas Family”

PRISON MINISTRY BLESSING BAGS

“I was in prison and you came to visit me …I tell you the truth, whatever you

did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:36, 40

Each year fifteen hundred bags are decorated, filled with toiletries and fresh fruit, then personally delivered by Christ Church disciples to the ‘Brothers in White’ at Hightower State Prison.  These Christmas ‘Blessing Bags’ are a simple but powerful expression of the love of Jesus Christ and have had a profound impact on both the bag recipients and the disciples delivering them. There are two ways you can serve:

Decorate Bags
(All can participate)

Check out a bundle of bags (20) at the Welcome Center. Decoration is a simple marker drawing of a cross and scripture reference – no artistic ability is required (a cross stencil and markers are provided); however, note that specific instructions must be followed to ensure consistency. Consider this activity for a group or your family.

Bags can be checked out at the Welcome Center.

Deliver Bags December 14, 2019 (Men 18 and older)

The team  would like to have 50 men from Christ Church join us in delivering the Blessing Bags on Saturday, December 14. The volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, be male and understand the time commitment will be from about 5:30 AM – 3:30 PM on that Saturday. There is no cost.

Contact: Glenn Smith  no later than November 14

Please prayerfully consider getting involved in this ministry.

The bag you decorate or deliver may be just what God uses to transform a life!

GET INVOLVED AT CHRIST CHURCH

Have you been looking for a way to get more involved in the life of Christ Church? Below are some very practical needs and simple ways that you can plug into the life of this great church. They don’t require too much time and they certainly make an immediate impact. When you click on one of the headings, you will be connected to a contact form for the person in charge of that ministry. You may be asked to create an Infellowship account by entering your email and a password. Infellowship is the portal through which church members are able to join groups, give online, interact with one another, and update their contact information.

Please consider any or all of these ministry opportunities as they are a vital component of our church life.
Sunday Morning Greeter – Greeters serve one Sunday a month to greet at one of our entrances for 30 minutes before each service. A smiling face and a cheerful word make everybody feel welcome as they enter the building for worship.

Sunday Morning Usher – Ushers serve one Sunday a month at the service they regularly attend. Ushers are asked to be in place 30 minutes before the service begins. Responsibilities include greeting people as they come into worship, handing out bulletins, helping folks find a seat, assisting with the offering, collecting registration sheets after worship, and leading people into the communion lines on the first Sunday of the month.

Sunday Mugger – Muggers serve one Sunday a month to deliver a coffee mug to one of our first-time guests. Muggers sort through the registration sheets after worship and identify first-time visitors, map out directions to their home, and deliver a coffee mug to them, welcoming them to Christ Church. The interaction at the door should be less than 60 seconds. If no one is home, we simply leave the coffee mug at their doorstep.

Sunday Communion Server – Christ Church offers communion after the Benediction at all services. One or two volunteers are needed per service to offer wafers and juice for those who desire to take communion. The first Sunday of the month we offer full communion during the service. We need 8 people (4 stations) for the Sanctuary services and 4 people (2 stations) for The Well service to hand out bread and hold the juice for those are taking communion. There is a sign-up system so people can choose the day and service that they want to serve.

Sunday Altar Set-Up – Altar helpers assist with putting out communion elements before the services and cleaning up after the service.

Welcome Center Volunteer – Members volunteer to sit at the Welcome Center during the week and on Sunday mornings. Responsibilities include answering the phone, greeting people, and directing folks to activities. Volunteers choose the days and hours that they want to serve.

Mailing Volunteer – About once a quarter we need helpers to stuff envelopes and prepare them for mailing. A mail-out usually takes a couple of hours to complete.

Hospitality Team Member – The Hospitality Team organizes and sets up refreshment tables for funerals, memorial services and other special events. This group serves when needed.

Facility and GroundsMinor repairs, power-washing, inspect for safety and ascetics, help tidy/clean, etc.
